Congress about Continuity and Change in Latin America

From July 7 to 9, the congress "Continuity and Change in Latin America" will take place at the Haus der Jugend in Hannover. Together with numerous speakers from social movements, NGOs, migrant organizations and collectives we dedicate ourselves to selected and current topics in different event formats.

On Friday, the congress will start with a panel discussion with the organizations Bloque Latinoamericano and Fujimorinuncamas from Berlin. This will be followed by the photo exhibition "El Sur Resiste", which shows pictures taken by local photographers of protests in Guatemala, Peru and Colombia. In a silent auction, the pictures can be auctioned from Friday to Saturday and the work of the photographers can be supported. Parallel to the exhibition, short films by the film collective "La Sur Real" will be shown on Friday evening and moderated by the curator.

On Saturday, three content panels will take place, each lasting about two hours. First, "Por and vida libre - Feminisms in Latin America" with a trans activist from Colombia and a speaker from the collective "Mujeres en Movimiento" (Women on the Move) from Hamburg. In the second panel "Tierra y Libertad - indigenous resistance and environmental activism" guests from Peru and Colombia will speak. The last panel deals with the topic "Struggle against extractivism and privatization" with speakers from the collective FreeBruno, as well as guests from Mexico and Honduras. Afterwards there will be a short closing panel before the evening program starts at UJZ Korn: Tripicaliptico! The KumbiaQueers, The Klaxon, Acid Burito and the Dubositos will play there.

On Sunday there is the possibility to come to a joint brunch and networking meeting in the café of the Haus der Jugend at 13:00Uhr.
